Welcome to Part 3 of my blog series where I’m showing you just how easy it is to resize my 18 Inch and American Girl patterns to fit the smaller 13 Inch Disney Toddler and 14 ½ Inch Wellie Wishers dolls. The clothes made following the Wellie Wishers instructions, will also fit the popular 13 1/2 inch Dianna Effner Little Darling dolls.
This time I will be concentrating on more summer type outfits.
All patterns were printed by reducing my 18 Inch and American Girl doll clothes patterns and the following table shows you what percentage to reduce them by as well as any additional adjustments that were made.

When adding the elastic around the neck and legs I just gently pulled on it as I turned the edge of the fabric over and stitched with a zigzag so not sure of the exact length used.

Happy reducing & sewing
Hi there, I am a veteran sewer of 70 years. I make clothes for both the 18 inch, and 14.5 inch dolls and sell on either Etsy or at craft sales. I sort of stumbled onto your site, and have been spending time on it this week. It all started with the winter nightgown, and since I had trouble figuring it out I went to the video. Although it has not helped me understand the steps yet, I have really gotten a few nice little hints on how to do things a bit easier.
What a very good site for new sewers. I like that you are always able to get access to the patterns and videos. I will gladly suggest this site to anyone who wants to learn.
I do find that the site is more easy to use on my computer than Ipad.
Hi Janice, thank you for your feedback. It’s great to hear that you have picked up some helpful hints in my videos and I appreciate that you will suggest my site to anyone who wants to learn. I must admit, I find everything easier on my computer than my iPad 🙂 If you have Facebook, you may also like to join my Sew and Share group. Happy sewing 🙂
Thank you for publishing this series. I have many patterns for 18 inch doll clothes I used to sew for my nieces and I was wondering how to size them for Wellie Wishers dolls. You have saved me the work with your blog and I will be checking back frequently.
My pleasure Maureen. Happy sewing 🙂
Thank you for sharing the resizing tips. It was so expensive to buy a pattern in both sizes. This has already saved me a lot of time, frustration and money. Can’t wait for the wedding one.
So glad you found this blog post helpful Laura. The Wedding Dress resizing instructions are now available in Part 4. Would love to see some photos of your resized outfits if you get the chance. 🙂
