We’d love you to join in our monthly Sew-Along. This time our theme is “Skirts, Pants & Overalls!”
This year, we’re sewing through the categories, focusing each month on once segment of our overall catalog. This month, we kick it off with our Bottoms Pattern collection. Members of this group had the chance to vote on Skirts, Pants, and Overalls, and the Overalls for All Seasons pattern was selected to get a special 50% discount for the month of March. Coupon code is: MAROVERALLHALF. Be sure to put it in your shopping chart when you checkout!
Your fun challenge is to have a good time with making Skirts, Pants, and Overalls. Sew something cute with any “Bottoms” Pattern from Rosie’s, or make any of those items using part of any of Rosie’s other patterns such as the Winter PJs, skirt from the Pinafore Dress and Skirt, etc. Yes, Sports Shorts count as pants. Underwear and nappies are fine. Invent-Your-Own Rompers using part of a Rosie’s pattern are a go. Have a blast! Make something you enjoy. Bring St. Patrick’s Day into it if you’re feeling the Luck of the Irish. Show us how creative you can get with Skirts, Pants, and Overalls, tell us how you did it, and share your pictures with us.
Or course, we want you to also sew whatever strikes your fancy every month, so every garment sewn with one of Rosie’s patterns gets at least one entry in the Sew-Along Wheel Spin. This month, if it’s Skirts, Pants, or Overalls, it gets two entries.
Join our Facebook Group
To participate in the Sew-Along, you must be a member of the Rosie’s Doll Clothes Patterns Sew and Share group. Joining is easy. Just point your browser here, answer the membership questions, and request to join. It’s a wonderful community of creative grown-ups who love to sew for dolls. Everyone will welcome you with open arms.
To be inclusive, absolutely anything and everything that you make with one of Rosie’s Doll Clothes Patterns can be entered in the Sew-Along for one chance to be chosen by the Spinning Wheel. Yes, that even includes the free Beanie or free Sewing Machine Pin Cushion! Remember that there’s a video for every Rosie’s pattern, so watch, learn, sew along, and have fun sewing and sharing.
You can use the 18 inch American Girl Doll or Cabbage Patch Kid size patterns, or you can resize those patterns to fit any doll. If you wish to alter the pattern to add your own personal twist or add a special embellishment, please feel free. These personal touches create great inspiration for others!
There’s no obligation to sew every month. You can sew one outfit or a dozen. It’s totally up to you. Each item from a Rosie’s pattern that you sew and post in the album (see instructions below) will be worth at least one entry towards the wheel spin at the end of the month. If you sew to the challenge specifications, you get two entries towards the wheel spin.
All skill levels are welcome to join in the fun as there will be no judgement, only encouragement.
The winner of the February ’23 Sew-Along Wheel Spin is Jane Harper Vernon, who submitted this adorable photo of her American Girl doll wearing Rosie’s Summer Dress. She used Valentine’s Day fabric, changed the skirt a bit, and attached a lovely black lace around the collar. If you stop by our Facebook group and look at the February Sew-Along album you can see the other wonderful doll clothes our group members made last month.
