I received an email from Peggy recently asking if everything was okay with myself and my family as I hadn’t updated my blog since before Christmas. You remember Peggy, one of my wonderful customers who sometimes does guest blog spots. Well, anyway this email made me realise that there are probably lots of you out there wondering what has happened to me and whether I will be bringing out any new patterns. ‘Sew’ I finally put fingers to keyboard to update my blog and let you all know what’s been happening.
My family and I are all well, thanks for your concern Peggy, I just haven’t had a chance to do anything with my patterns website as I was so busy with orders for Rosie’s Dolls Clothes leading into Christmas. Then we took a short break and I was planning to start a new pattern in January. However, January proved to be just as busy (almost) as November and December and because so many of my stock drawers are empty I have had to make doll clothes for every order.
But some good news, I have finalised my new pattern and Brad, my multi-talented hubbie, spent last weekend converting it all into pdf files and adding all the writing. I have actually started filming this week and OH MY GOSH, this is a big one! Trust me to start back with something so grand! Anyway, I should finish filming this week fingers crossed – and then it’s onto editing and loading onto the website.
At this stage I’m planning to release my new pattern around the end of February, early March and I’m super excited because it will be the very first pattern in my New ‘Glitz and Glamour’ category!
Hmmm, perhaps I should look at selling Rosie’s Dolls Clothes so that I can spend all my time designing, producing and filming my doll clothes patterns? Certainly something to think about.
Anyway, thanks again Peggy for your concern and please stay tuned for my grand pattern release in a couple of weeks.

Hi Rosie, Glad to hear you and your family are well. I’m having a heck of a time trying to sell my dolls/doll clothes. I just don’t know what to do anymore. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Susan
Hi Susan, I’m sorry to hear that you are having difficulty selling your dolls and doll clothes online. I have just had a quick look at your website and noticed that you have no Alexa Traffic Ranking and I’m wondering if people are able to find your website on search engines such as Google. For example, if someone types in ‘doll clothes’ does your website appear in the search results and on which page? I’m certainly no expert but you may need to look at what platform you have used to create your website, do you have a site map? have you registered your site with Google? There are a whole heap of other factors that also come into play and you really need to speak with someone who is a professional in creating websites and Search Engine Optimisation if you wish to continue with your own website. Just be very wary of SEO Companies that use methods not acceptable to Google or who promise 1st page search rankings within a couple of months. Perhaps you could join a network of small business owners who are prepared to share their experiences and knowledge or who can recommend reliable people to help you.
You may find that it is better and easier to sell your dolls and clothes on other websites such as Etsy or Ebay as they do all this work for you. You can still set up your own store and because these sites are so well known, it may be easier for others to find your doll clothes. When I first started selling my doll clothes more than 11 years ago now, I used Ebay and went to my local markets before setting up my own basic website. It was some years before I was prepared to spend the money to create the http://www.rosiesdollsclothes.com.au website that I have now and it took an enormous amount of work to load all the products, etc. but I’m glad I did as I love it and I get wonderful feedback from my customers.
I wish you all the very best and of course happy sewing
Rosie
Thanks for getting back to keeping us all in the loop. I am really keen on seeing what you have created in your new Glitz and Glamour category. Early March or even late Feb., it will be just about the right time to treat myself to a new pattern for my b’day. Then when I get back to Canada late April I will be ready to sew some new designs.
My learn to crochet course is coming along well and I hope to start a doll sweater, cap, scarf and mittens real soon. I’ll keep you posted on that.
Good to have you back with us.
Peggy
Hi Rosie, it sure does sound like you’ve had a super busy time over the last couple of months. Really looking forward to seeing your new category and I have a feeling the dolls will be looking forward to wearing your new creations too 🙂 Sounds like you have a bit of thinking about the direction you’ll be taking this year as well. There’s times I bet you wish you could just split yourself into 2 and be able to focus on both sides of your business. I’m sure you’ll work out what’s best for you. Here’s looking forward to an exciting 2014.

Glad to hear you are doing great!
I have been having fun experimenting and enjoying it!
What I think would be a cool task to tackle is to make a replica of Elsa’s dress from frozen! I think I will try it! I will let you know how it goes!

OMG look at all your containers. Glad to finally see you are getting back into it. Can’t have you slacking off now..
In the process of making my granddaughter a petti-skirt. I reckon that it would be an awesome accessory for a doll too little fiddly but would look good.
‘Sew’ I’ll wait for your next blog..

Hi Rosie, Very nice to hear from you. Glad everything is going well. I have been switching between doll clothes, little girls clothes, bags and clothes for myself, these last couple of months and having a great time. Both sewing and embroidery machines needed servicing from ‘overwork’. Kayla is well and sewing by herself now ( with a bit of help ) and my 7 year old grand-daughter, Lauren, has ‘caught the bug’ so – after she masters needle and thread we will attack the machine. I’m intrigued by the ‘Glitz and Glamour’. Looking forward to seeing what you have come up with. best wishes. Cm
Hi Rosie,
Yes, I for one was really missing your blog too, but I am pleased you and your family are well. Looking forward to seeing your brand new pattern.
Take care,
Anne
Hi ladies, thanks so much for your wonderful messages and support. It’s also fantastic to find out what you have all been up to and what projects you have been working on. I promise to be back in a couple of weeks 🙂
Happy sewing everyone
